Founded in December 2006, the International Center for Competitiveness’ (ICC) mission is to promote scientific knowledge and rigorous learning in the area of competitiveness, with special emphasis on the European Union and increasing globalization. The ICC is directed by IESE Professor Antonio SUBIRA. The center was created in cooperation with the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness (ISC), led by Prof. Michael PORTER at Harvard Business School. The ISC has been working for several years with the World Economic Forum in the development of the Global Competitiveness Report, a comprehensive study on the competitiveness of nations.
The ICC aims to contribute to the study and dissemination of competitive causes in Spain, while keeping in mind its position in Europe and the rest of the world. The ICC carries out research on competitiveness and its implications with special emphasis on the European Union and increasing globalization.
Clusters are one on the main lines of research of the center. The ICC tries to deepen the influence of clusters on the competitiveness of companies, regions and countries. As part of this effort the ICC has offered the Microeconomics of Competitiveness course and other focused programmes at IESE and has developed teaching materials on clusters.
